I'm researching various teacher training programs and looking for some feedback.

I have applied to the Eugene Waldorf teacher training program and am wondering if any of you have experience with the training program there or know someone who has gone through it?

I looked in to the Rudolf Steiner college in Sacramento but in my research of the surrounding area, I don't feel the "culture" would make my lifestyle and I'd be unhappy living in the Sac area. However, I haven't completly ruled RSC out.

A new group, spear-headed by a couple of Waldorf alum and some questing individuals, has been forming in Portland, Oregon around the questions of how Anthroposophy compares and relates to other ideas- philosophy, spirituality, religion, economics, social activism, individual and social development, and relationships. We are attempting to form our study group in a new way and are looking for people who are open to the experience. Self-titled as the Portland Youth Discussion Group, we invite people who are youthful in mind, body or spirit to join us in bi-weekly meetings where we share a meal, an artistic, musical or physical activity, followed by discussion. We rotate conversation facilitators at each meeting and our readings change, based on the interest of the facilitator. We are very interested in expanding our circle and in exploring more people’s passions, ideas and interests. Our next meeting will take place at 7:00PM on Monday, December 18. My major was child development and I learned a lot in school but I basically just had to not even pay attention to my grades because they were partially based on attendance and sometimes I can't even walk for a couple days each month. I just absorbed what I could while I was there but my classes seemed so backwords in thier teaching methods. I would spend most of my time debating with my professers. I recently found out about Rudolf Stiener and it really makes a lot of sense to me. It's similar to what my natural philosophy was. Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, Intelectual education is the only true education. It requires smaller classes and more attention then factory daycare (I have worked in huge centers and thats why I went back to school, it disgusted me.) I have finally decided that I really want to start a home daycare again and I want to take classes from home in this type of education to get some kind of degree. I have heard of workshops and thats fine but I want to finish my education and get a degree if it's possible. Maybe you could say a person has to attend a certain number of workshops along with the home studies from books and tapes, or online... I know Waldorf doesn't care to teach with computers for children but what about adults?

I am a public school credentialed teacher but would like to further explore Waldorf pedagogy. I've done plenty of reading but don't know much about the teacher training program. Are most of them 3 years long? I wonder if there are any teacher training programs in Humboldt County, CA near Arcata? Any info would be appreciated!

my youngest is still at the preschool and at three years old is already able to focus and engage in quiet things such as basket weaving, sewing and the monday bread making. he also loves to chase the ducks and divert the creek.

thank you kim.

I was looking over my Sacramento Waldorf School Kindergarten recipe book today and Thought I would post this recipe. It is my favorite cake, since I really don't prefer super sweet gooey cakes.

1 Cup of oil, I usually use 1/2 C oil, and a 1/2 Cup apple sauce
1 cup honey
1 2/3 Cups vanilla yogurt
Mix well and add
1 tsp baking soda
4 tsp vanilla
4 cups flour

Puor into oiled bundt cake pan, and bake for 35-45 minutes at 350 degrees until golden brown.

Serve this as is or topped with fresh whipped cream and your favorite fresh fruit like they do in the Kindergaten.

!Enjoy!
